Information you provide
If you submit a contact form, send an email, or subscribe to field notes, we may receive the information you provide, such as your email address, name, message, and subscription preferences. Do not send passwords, payment details, passport information, medical records, or other sensitive information through a general contact form.
Analytics and technical information
The site uses Google Site Kit and Google Analytics to understand page visits, referral sources, device and browser categories, outbound source clicks, internal commercial clicks, and affiliate clicks. These services may use cookies or similar technologies and may process IP-derived or device information according to their own policies.
MailPoet may be used to manage subscriptions and send email. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email. We do not sell subscriber lists.
Forms and security
WPForms may process general contact submissions. Site hosting, caching, backup, security, and spam-prevention providers may process technical information required to operate and protect the site.
The personal travel-planning form is hosted and processed by Canopy Trips. The contact and trip details are encrypted before storage in the Canopy Trips WordPress database. Resend processes the data needed to deliver the transactional advisor alert and traveler confirmation. The request goes to the independent travel advisor affiliated with Fora Travel. Planning records are retained for up to 365 days. Do not include payment card, passport, medical, or other sensitive identification information.
Affiliate links
Affiliate links may contain tracking parameters that allow a merchant or network to attribute a purchase or booking. Amazon links currently use the tracking ID canopytrips-20. Clicking an external merchant link takes you to that merchant’s privacy and cookie practices.
Cookies and controls
Your browser may allow you to block or delete cookies. Blocking analytics or marketing cookies can reduce measurement but should not prevent access to editorial content. External sites control their own consent tools.
Retention
Information is retained only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, legal requirements, security, and backup cycles. Retention periods can differ by service.
Children
Canopy Trips is a general travel publication and is not directed to children under 13. Do not submit a child’s personal information through the site.
