Select the protected area before the town
ATM requires an advance arrangement with a licensed operator and an ATM-certified guide. Cockscomb and South Water Caye create different trail, road, boat, and guide systems. Write the exact site and access chain, then choose the room that supports it.
A remote lodge and a village room solve different problems
A forest lodge may include meals and transport but limit independent movement. A town or village room may simplify restaurants and local errands but add activity pickups. Normalize room rates with meals, early breakfast, drinking water, transfers, power, connectivity, laundry, and cancellation.
Community context should not become a performance checklist
Hopkins is identified by the tourism board as a center of Garifuna community life. Choose locally led food, music, or cultural experiences whose host, setting, group, price, and visitor conduct are clear. Avoid treating residents as scenery or attaching a vague authentic label to a commercial package.
Combining both bases needs route space
A road transfer between Cayo and Stann Creek is still a travel day once checkout, pickup, stops, final access, and check-in are counted. Use at least three nights at each when both include a full-day priority. Otherwise keep one base and spend the saved nights on weather flexibility.

- Name the primary cave, archaeological site, forest, reef, or cultural experience.
