Why Bocas is not in this version
Bocas del Toro can be the right choice, but adding it to Panama City, Boquete, and the Pacific coast creates too many mode changes. A ten-day route that asks for metro, domestic air or road, mountain transfer, then another flight or land-and-boat chain usually becomes a transport exercise rather than a field guide trip.
The city base should do real work
Use the capital for nearby rainforest, the canal zone, and neighborhoods that are easy by metro or short transfer. Panama City earns a two- or three-night stay when it removes the need for an extra inland detour just to see wildlife close to the canal watershed.
Keep one marine day flexible
Coiba access depends on operator timing, sea conditions, and what the traveler actually wants from the water day. A flexible slot on day eight or nine is better than stacking a fixed boat trip immediately after the coast arrival.
