Canoa Aventura: allow the full half day
The operator’s river-float page describes a 4.5-hour outing; Viator product 21249P2 lists five hours. Use the longer planning window rather than treating all of it as time on the river. The marketplace lists a maximum of 15 and a minimum of two people per booking. Its pickup boundary does not cover every hotel with Arenal in its address. For an outlying lodge, obtain the supplement and return time before choosing a departure. This is a raft outing with boarding demands, not an accessible sightseeing bus.
Bogarin: a short visit, not a proven small-group product
Bogarin’s booking site describes its guided visit as about two hours with admission. The same site promotes small groups but shows capacity up to 100 on the experience cards; it does not explain a maximum per guide there. We therefore leave the guide-level cap unconfirmed. A family that needs a quiet small departure should obtain that number before paying. The independently booked self-guided option is an alternative when the walk itself is enough and the group does not need interpretation.
Místico: keep the trail and transport decisions separate
The bridges are the stronger choice when moving between forest floor and canopy is the point of the outing. They are a weaker match for someone who dislikes height exposure or mainly wants a short walk. The detailed bridge guide compares direct guided entry, independent admission, and one marketplace ticket. Read that decision before using a hotel-transfer package to solve what is really a route or mobility mismatch.
One river listing we would not book without clarification
Jacamar’s Peñas Blancas product 15373P17 currently names Corobicí in one itinerary paragraph and describes both snacks and lunch in different sections. Those are material route and inclusion conflicts. It is not our selected booking link here. Readers considering that product should require a corrected confirmation from the supplier; a familiar river name in the headline is not enough.
Environmental claims remain outside this shortlist’s proof
Canoa’s site uses carbon-neutral and eco-certification language without establishing the evidence behind those badges on the product page we reviewed. We have not verified those claims and do not use them as a ranking factor. For every operator, our wildlife standard remains no feeding, baiting, touching, or staged contact. Ask how guides manage viewing distance and animal stress. An unanswered conduct question is a reason to choose another operator, not to borrow reassurance from a star rating.
